Story about the Lord of the Isles visiting Gordon Castle [Moireabh/Morayshire] in which the Duchess of Gordon sent him away, scolding him for visiting when her husband was not at home. When the Duke returned she told him that Alasdair Rua[dh] Buachaille nan Eileanan had called but she had sent him away. The Duke immediately went after him and brought him 'back in his care to the Duchess['s] confusion.'

Story about the Steocairean [cliar sheanachain or itinerant band/sorners] on Islay [Ìle] collected from Donald MacPhail, grocer, Quay, Oban [An t-Òban, Earra Ghàidheal/Argyllshire], in which a group demanded and were reluctantly given hospitality in an Islay farm house. Amongst them was a young man learning but who 'could only play the first "car" of the port [tune]'. The head of the steocairean 'ceann-snaodh nan steocairen' recited a poem or song beginning 'Piobaireach[hd] is aran tur'.

Story written down by John Ewen MacRury, Beinn na Faoghla/Benbecula entitled 'A Chliarsheanachain' [itinerant band/sorners]. The Cliar Sheanchain or sorners, were a band of sixteen burly men, who would eat and drink and entertain or satirise and they were notoriously difficult to control.
